Countdown to Halloween: And now, a word from our sponsors

Instead I thought I’d share this commercial for the Toyota Prius, which is apparently an ad for the hybrid vehicle of the damned and a clear attempt to fuck with my head. Am I the only one who thinks of Clive Barker’s “In the Hills, the Cities” when they see this? What the hell, Toyota?!
I do find this ad quite unsettling.
I imagine the person pitching this said, “And it’s called ‘People Person!’ Get it?! Ha ha! Ha ha ha! WHAHAHAHAAAAAA!!!”

That was creepy as all get out!

Any blog post that references one of my favorite Clive Barker stories gets a thumbs-up from me. 🙂
Khairul: I get a little wigged out every time it comes on – it’s like a 60-second horror story.
Scott: I love that story! It blew me away the first time I read it.
A lot of the stuff in the Books of Blood are just spectacularly good. I wish Barker had stuck with short stories instead of novels (though I think horror is always best in short form than in long…)
I agree with you. The horror stories I’ve found to be most effective have been short stories. I think that’s part of the reason I enjoy the Lovecraft Mythos so much – it’s individual stories set in a shared universe (to borrow some comics jargon). A reader doesn’t need to read everything to understand what’s going on in a particular story, but if you’re looking for a richer experience it’s available, too.
What you said, man. 🙂
